Festina lente
A colorful, vibrant choreography emerges, filled with surprises, creating an open and stimulating atmosphere through the spontaneous interplay between the audience and the performers.
Festina Lente, Latin for „Make Haste Slowly“, is an installation of five dancers, being set in motion by the public.
A colorful, vibrant choreography emerges, filled with surprises, creating an open and stimulating atmosphere through the spontaneous interplay between the audience and the performers. The audience is conducting the rhythm of the performance and the development of the events. Sometimes the spectators conduct single movements, then the movement of the entire group. Sometimes abstract dynamics are affected; sometimes the dramaturgic line of the entire piece is influenced by the public.
At the same time Festina lente sets a framework for the audience and the performers to appear and experiment:
While the dancers are confronted with their various limits – what if the game does not work? What if the audience does not help? – The spectators are invited to find their way through and between social convention and their own desire. How do our wishes, hopes and will, affect our feeling of time? Do we choose to shape events or do we remain observers? What happens when we realize that we aren’t alone with our goals, and our pursuits become a collective process? Can we count on one another?
