Catherine Legrand and Hervé Robbe work in a closed environment which is not that of heightened emotions, but rather the calm which comes of withdrawal to an isolated place.
Catherine Legrand and Hervé Robbe work in a closed environment which is not that of heightened emotions, but rather the calm which comes of withdrawal to an isolated place. Two chaises longue set on stage are inviting, even to the point of a nonchalant desultory conversation. The set design acts on everyone’s memories with its references: a family photo and a landscape are projected on screens and commented on by the dancers themselves offstage. Time is suspended between a suddenly-illusory past and present. The bodies harmonise by mimicry and then slip into a syncopated form, which surprises the other in its approach. The choreography is the result of a composition which takes into account spontaneity of movement and the need for a written form. Between abandon and control, the gestures whisper snatches of a dialogue which weaves together as the thread of the dance is spun out.
