Documentary on the production of the project ‘Flag’, composed of three short pieces choreographed by Yann Lheureux, in which he examines urban sports and practises (hip-hop, BMX, etc.) and their territory.

Catching someone red-handed requires the presence of at least two protagonists. The person or persons who commit the reprehensible act, and the person or persons who observe them.

Performance spaces, urban spaces? With ‘FLAG’, Yann Lheureux pursues his line of work in examining the links between identity and territory.

Unrivalled performers, emblematic of their respective urban sports and practices (hip-hop, BMX and parkour) follow after one another through solo performance. They appear in all their strength and virtuosity while exposing their fragility and sensitivity. Separated and brought together by the same issues, the impact of these three successive pieces are made to resonate.

They fly the flag not for their nation or their new family, but for the unwavering freedom they wield. Through their sport and their status as free agents, they attempt to break down geographical borders by recreating families across them.

Examining urban sports and their territory, these three soloists are transposable inside and outside, thus questioning the need for the theatrical fluctuation between two representative contexts, as determined by the environment and the relationship with the audience.
