Stary Browar Nowy Taniec is a multilevel dance program run by Art Stations Foundation at Stary Browar Art Center in Poznań, Poland since October 2004. It was created to popularize, promote and present to local audiences the art of contemporary choreography (especially its avant-garde trends). The main mission and goal of the program is an intensive support of development of Polish choreography. Thus Stary Browar is the first in Poland regular dance space – a meeting point of international dance community and Polish artists and a platform of artistic dialogue, research, creation and choreographic reflection.Following the mission of the project and next to presentations of both renowned and young international works, from the very beginning Stary Browar Nowy Taniec constantly supports young Polish dance artists succeeding in introducing to Polish scene a whole new generation of ambitious and talented dance creators.Since 2004 dozens of contemporary dance spectacles have been created in collaboration and with production support from Art Stations Foundation. Beginning of 2006 the very first in Poland residency program for young dance makers – Solo Project – has been created providing each year three young artists with a scholarship and offering them not only financial help but first of all professional working conditions, artistic coaching and promotional support. With the aim of supporting development of choreographic skills, a series of coaching projects for young professionals has been started in 2007 and developed into Alternative Dance Academy project bringing together every second month international choreographers and Polish artists for a week of intensive training and composition research. In 2011 the Foundation introduced also the first in Poland project for the youngest audience offering to children unique dance experiences through workshops and best international performances.Art Stations Foundation / Stary Browar Nowy Taniec intensively promotes Polish dance abroad and with such aim became partner of international networks and EU project. In 2008 it became an associated member of Aerowaves network and joined European Dancehouse Network (EDN) as a founding member. From June 2010, together with 18 partners from the whole Europe, the foundation opened modul-dance program that till 2014 will bring to Stary Browar many international residents and offer production possibilities for Polish artists. In June 2012 Art Stations Foundation joined SPAZIO –A European network for dance creation – formation and creation program for young dance makers, focused on the interdisciplinary character of the dance discipline. With its general interest in art of choreography, its creative process as well as in wider discussion on its history, theory and future, program Stary Browar Nowy Taniec makes Stary Browar a creation space where conscious, open-minded and adventurous dance audience becomes a challenging partner for contemporary (not only young) choreographers – a very unique spot on a map of Polish dance.
