RETROSPECTIVE: 18 NUGGETS OF ANIMATED DANCE

The Festival International de Danse Animée – FIDA# is an event entirely dedicated to promoting an artistic and cultural genre that takes shape at the crossroads of dance and animated images from the digital arts, animated cinema and the plastic arts.
It’s a moment of international influence for dance animations in all their forms: 2D animations, 3D animations, mixed and experimental animations, live animations, mapping, interactive, AR/VR and scenic animations.

Since the festival’s inception, Hangars Numériques, supported by a dedicated research center, has asserted the need for a unique showcase for professionals and audiences alike. The program invites us to question the artistic and philosophical issues underlying the genre.

For its fifth anniversary edition in 2022, Hangars Numériques has chosen to focus on the origins of the genre and the marvellous. We invite the public to revisit or discover the animated dance nuggets of the winners since 2018: “Coda” by Denis Poulin, “Interlude” by Aaron Howell, “Meta | Morph” by Louise Coetzer to name but a few international nuggets…
