For the second edition of the “Dansons Maintenant! » programmed from November 10 to December 8, 2012, in Cotonou, Benin, the Fondation Zinsou ordered Andreya Ouamba a choreographic piece on the theme of urbanity.
An urban reality here.
Urban realities elsewhere
Crossed looks between different spaces.
Different urban scenographies
Do we have new urban spaces,
Which we can perhaps name;
« Contemporary urban space »
What relationship do we have with space?
This project is based on a dialogue, a discussion, a sharing of views between the dancers and the choreographer. A repository of stories, habits, mentalities, realities….
A “telling” of our points of view of urban space, or space simply.
Crossing between spaces of Dakar and Cotonou through video projections made in Dakar, and during the period of creation in Cotonou, in order to find or perhaps not, common points that would allow us to reconstitute “imaginary” spaces.
Performed on November 17, 2012, Théâtre de Verdure of the French Institute of Benin, Cotonou, as part of the event « Dance Now! » organized by the Zinsou Foundation
The deposit of the video archives of “Dansons maintenant !”, belonging to Fondation Zinsou was made possible thanks to the Centre National de la Danse Research award in dance, granted in 2021 to Dr Anne Décoret-Ahiha for her research project “Consolidation of the African choreographic field: focus on Benin” and with the kind permission of the artists.
