La singularité de notre danse repose sur une « identité – relation » toujours en mouvement, façonnée par les échanges qui fondent notre histoire.

The individuality of our dancing resides in an idea we call “identity – relationship,” an idea which is for us in constant evolution, shaped by the exchanges which are the foundation of our work together. Our artistic collaboration provides us with a common space, a haven for interaction in which we set our own particularities against each other in multiple crosscut exchanges which we assimilate later in a sort of “creolisation,” per the definition of the term by the novelist Edouard Glissant.
The theme of the Mediterranean as it relates to the Arab-Muslim world carries a deep emotional charge which is indeed part of the “identity – relationship” which interlaces two different ways of being, of living in the world, from the East for Héla Fattoumi, from the West for Eric Lamoureux. From this they create a mosaic of tastes, sensations, smells, memories, echoes of their lives which trickle into our dance, from somewhere subterranean, from our own “trace-memory.”
Being a part of the Biennale de Danse de Lyon is an opportunity to find another level of consciousness in this idea of “trace – memory, ” “identity – relationship,” and “creolisation.” Setting this single body on stage is our way of finding out how much these ideas are part of the complex reality linking the opposing shores of the Mediterranean Sea.Héla Fattoumi / Eric Lamoureux
