Onqotô
“Onqotô” raises the great metaphysical question that has dogged human beings ever since the world has existed: how to address our perplexity before the mysterious and unspeakable immensity that is the Universe?
“Onqotô”, which means, ”Where am I?”, raises the great metaphysical question that has dogged human beings ever since the world has existed, or rather, since human beings have been human beings: how to address our perplexity before the mysterious and unspeakable immensity that is the Universe? The piece leads both dancers and audience to the point of visual and physical exhaustion. Controlled classical technique is supplemented by a mix of Brazilian popular dances, which shows in the swinging hips and exuberant gestures. Solos, duets and ensembles of devilish precision follow in natural succession, without respite, one with the music. “Onqotô” is a work which deals with humanity’s uncertainties and also its pettiness.
