French of German origin, Karin Waehner was born in Upper Silesia. She studies modern dance with Mary Wigman in Leipzig first then in Berlin. She learns about American techniques with Martha Graham, Jose Limon, Merce Cunningham and composition with Louis Horst. Pioneer of modern dance in France Karin Waehner teaches since 1960 at the Schola Cantorum and has been directing for over 20 years his company Les Ballets Contemporains, born in advance on his time. After the success of his last choreographies “Les Marches” and “Sehnsucht” she presents her latest creation “Change of quay in Poitiers”.
