Tangos !
Tangos! is made up of twenty paintings, each dedicated to one or more people, living or deceased (George Balanchine, Patrick Bossatti, Edwin Denby…), including many AIDS victims (George Ashley, Dominique Bagouet, Julius Eastman, Alain-Paul Lequeux, Alan Lloyd, Harry Sheppard).

based on the Argentine repertoire of the 30s and 40s
(Canaro, Troilo, d’Arienzo) and contemporary
and contemporary tangos by Satie, Stravinsky, Sclavis and Piazzolla.
A search
based on the “authentic” steps and behaviours
of an era fifty years ago.
Variations on a “conjugated” tradition:
a recalled past,
an intense present,
a dreamed future.
No set – but very architectural lighting
to create the settings for these passionate little stories.
Unusual costumes
for this now ultra-sophisticated suburban dance.
An a cappella singer.
And above all, diabolical sequences.
