« “Zombie Aporia” could be considered as a rock concert : on stage, a trio segues sequences of dance and song one after the other; sequences that are short like the titles of an album, filled with the chaotic energy of delirious fans or a totally crazy choir. Playing with the opportunities offered by the context, the three dancers explore the ambivalent relationships that link the body to the voice, dance to music, gesture to language.

“Zombie”, of course, means living dead. Aporia: a logical contradiction. The title “Zombie Aporia” makes a reference to pop culture side-by-side with a philosophical term. Zombie + Aporia = 2 words which – according to Google – had never ever been combined before we decided to do it. Our starting point was to create hybrid forms, to combine contradictory terms, to put contrasted rhythms together with the aim of creating performing monsters. In each sequence, we used several types of materials and made them collide: a musical rhythm clashes with a contrary dance rhythm, physical manipulation deforms the quality of the voice, written words merge with spoken words. […] This encounter between opposite forms occasionally produces unexpected friction, occasionally unexpected synchronization. Our exploration focuses on the body, which we perceive as a multi-faceted entity where energy, language, movement, rhythm and perceptions interact in an extreme and chaotic way. […]

“Zombie Aporia” harmonizes two contradictory trends: the naïve certainty of a manifesto and the cautious scepticism of our times. We take a stand to what we do, hesitatingly. We punctuate our principles with conviction yet we doubt as to their importance. We undertake, nevertheless, to exaggerate, to be over the top. »
