Style international is an original creation for the Opéra de Dijon. Designed by Arquitectonica, an American architecture firm based in Miami that constructs all round the world, for many people this building appears to be an architectural gesture, the enormity of which tends towards megalomania.
Style international, the subtitle of which could be “The love boat is enjoying itself” plays with these spaces, makes them sweat, gently mishandles them, and has impertinent fun there.
Free and unoccupied, these places are an invitation for sliding, jumping, climbing, dripping, running and forms of bodies echoing the drawings on the walls, railings and floors.
The “ship deck” does not lack elegance and has the old-fashioned charm of a fiction setting. Airport, ballroom, transatlantic liner, luxury hotel? To the classy pop music of Bertrand Burgalat, Style international uses ambiguity sparingly and has his silhouettes from another age dance along. The time of outrageousness.
