The ambiguity of the world… Of people… Of their strange, tug-of-war relationships, oscillating between extreme moral, psychological and historical precepts. Affected by these issues, absolutely concerned by the erring ways of human beings, Qudus Onikeku in this solo brutally brings to the stage these fundamental contradictions. “What makes a person suddenly turn into a monster?” he asks, seeking an insightful sincerity more than an impossible answer. His powerful presence, brutal in that it creates turmoil of the air and minds, can confront fearlessly this existential question. STILL/life invites us to celebrate doubt: still here, alive, why, how? And, surely, why dance, now? He asserts in reality that all essential questions integrate a call, a production of redeeming energy, a liberating force, a utopia, a tomorrow.
