Solo
Hosted in 2013-14 and 2014-15 by Théâtre de la Vie in Brussels, Karine Ponties took this time to focus her research on intimacy, digging deeper into the close relationship between theatre, dance and performance. From this, came, in 2013-14, SOI, a hybrid and condensed solo where dance isn’t necessarily protagonist.
SOI (SELF)
Never are we ourselves. Not recognizing, or knowing ourselves. Us giving life to ourselves, being born out of our own hands. Us being the time of an instant, of a lifetime. Disappearing under a different shape, buried, folded, molded, squashed.
Being born a golem, mud made of veins, sensations and blood. A varying, mutating construction at the heart of which, amidst turmoil, resistance, resignation and joy, again and again, give out an inkling of the SELF.
