Planta Baja is Karine Ponties’ first solo.
Sentimental songs in Cuban Spanish for a character outside of time who comes and goes alone in her story.
A small character who trails madness in her wake and seems to be out of sorts. Unable to leave her apartment, the street-level tenant is astonished to see herself dancing… Her legs splitting an involuntary movement… A little tale inspiring both laughter and tears.
Solitude frequently has a face sewn by very human hands; this face is not a mask, but a head that bears an expression at the end of a stem, which gives itself like a body detached from everything, its legs made to walk endlessly until another face is encountered, one whose expression is that of amazement.
