Ombres du péché (Les)

Year of production
1991

In a stylized bathroom, a man and a woman seem to enjoy tearing themselves apart and playing again and again scenes of hugging and repelling, where a razorblade happens to be symbolically very important.

A stylised bathroom, a man and a woman seem to be taking great pleasure in hurting each other and in replaying over and over scenes of embracing and pushing away in which a razor-blade has an important symbolic position.

Embraces, gestures that force the other’s body and bend it under the authority of desire, provide the director with an opportunity to focus on the plastic and raw presence of Pascal Allio, an enigmatic blond with a transparent gaze. The orchestra, which plays an original score by Jean-Claude Wolff, is included in the setting as the motionless and petrified witness of the violent dispute between the two characters.
