Never Mind [transmission 2014]
Extrait chorégraphique remonté par le groupe Faits et Gestes (Montpellier), responsable artistique Françoise Texier, dans le cadre de Danse en amateur et répertoire (2013)
Choreography by Daniel Larrieu
A choreographic extract remodelled by the group Faits et Gestes (Montpellier), artistic manager Françoise Texier, as part of the “Danse en amateur et repertoire” programme (2013) (a programme created to assist and promote amateur dancing).
The project
As an interpreter, Christine Jouve has worked with 1980-generation choreographers, mainly in Dominique Bagouet’s filiation with Bernard Glandier, and Daniel Larrieu. She was an obvious choice for the group as she had already transmitted to them an extract from Bernard Glandier’s Nata Lux in 2012, and they had particularly appreciated her artistic finesse. Never Mind is a participative piece, alternating written sequences and commonly shared instructions. What is at stake here is the deployment of a collective game associated with the freedom that each individual may have in their own physical response. A work of listening and the organic implementation of movement in a register of actions, are at the core of this piece.
The choreographer
The most iconoclastic of the choreographers of the 1980s generation is without doubt Daniel Larrieu. A dancer in Anne-Marie Reynaud’s company after studying horticulture, he gained recognition with Waterproof, an aquatic work for six dancers that everyone remembers. After being named director of the CCN de Tours (1994-2002), he was the first person to deliberately leave his position in 2002 to reclaim his freedom. The Administrator delegated to dance at the Société des auteurs et compositeurs dramatiques (SACD – Society of dramatic authors and composers) (2006-2009, 2013-2015), and associate artist at the Manège de Reims (2010-2013), he creates both for his own company and for theatre directors, film makers and museums, not to mention his personal projects that he develops unfettered.
