“Transmitting Isadora Duncan’s dances to a man is a way of questioning the specific part of what is female in Isadora Duncan’s dance. With Narcisse, this question is raised more intensely. Here again, through the transmission to François Chaignaud, I reassert the aesthetic principle that has always guided my interpretation work: simplicity. Emphasising style – motor construction, rhythms, phrasings in relation with space – more than form seems to me to be pertinent in this challenge.”
