2011 Golden Mask 2011 - Award for the Best Contemporary Dance Performance in Russia
Mirliflor is a piece for four dancers commissioned in the context of European project EUNIC (European National Institutes for Culture) / INTRADANCE 2010. At this time, Karine Ponties was invited to devise a performance for the four dancers of Dialogue Dance Company (Kostroma, Russia). Highly praised, this piece received the 2011 Golden Mask for the Best Contemporary Dance Performance in Russia.
Excerpt from Karine Ponties’s intention note
Working the inner elegance that these four dancers carry within themselves, and deforming it by creating peculiar characters. Their gestual eccentricities creating strangely familiar states that do not attempt to imitate life, but to bring it back its docile and yet grotesque undulations.
Four dreamers.
In a space outside of time. A waiting room… A place of autopsy, order, disorder. Where one can lean, fight or leave.
