Mimesix
Conferdanse 2005 on choreographic appropriation.
Still developing the idea of conferdanse (after Le Show and Un-2-Men-Show), this sextet will deal with a certain “history of contemporary dance”, from the point of view of filiation and heritage… The basic material here will be imitation, caricature, close to a humanism that mimes out of love rather than satire… The idea is therefore to visit, quote and pay homage to the great choreographers who have made or are still making today’s dance: Pina Bausch, Maguy Marin, Maurice Béjard, Merce Cunnigham. ..
Imitate them to highlight the strong images of their dance, the tics, the recognizable signs, a style, a writing! An overview of all these outstanding figures who have become part of the collective unconscious, who have struck a chord and influenced the generations of the last fifty years. While their stylistic codes are drawn on, extirpated, stolen and distorted, often unconsciously, “our aim is to develop our awareness of these influences, to understand them so as to use them in an informed way”…
