The central theme is a reflection on a shared journey, and not an outcome. The result is this succession of three solos which show the individual development of a basic choreographic phrase transmitted by the choreographer. Each dancer has a particular preferred way of moving, which allows his or her own reflection on the dance to show through, revealing the personality frankly. Everyone ventures into these digressions, “kneadings” of a precise choreography. Dance is not an explicit means of expression and Hervé Robbe does not fall back on a theatrical treatment to make up for this lack of overt statement. Shaping is the only driving force of contemporary expression. So, the only way one can talk about “Made of” is to consider the intention behind its creation: choreographic research.
