Latitudes Contemporaines, a festival on the international contemporary scene, is held every year in June in the Lille dense and multi-bordered metropolitan area of the Hauts-de-France region.
Set up in 2003 as a contemporary dance festival, Latitudes Contemporaines has since extended its programme to all kinds of performing arts.

A multidisciplinary festival beyond borders

A multidisciplinary festival beyond borders

Established as operator of international contemporary creation, the Latitudes Contemporaines festival continually monitors changes in performing arts forms. A resolutely multidisciplinary festival, it accompanies and disseminates the new live entertainment forms. Effectively, programming extends to all fields of art: performance, dance, theatre, music, as well as hybrid works that will form tomorrow’s art.

Publics, identities, the role of individuals as spectator and creator: all these are questions driving the structure. A key role is thus reserved for debates, mediation, cultural action, meeting spaces and practices to dialogue and share our impressions.

In addition to its annual festival, Latitudes Contemporaines carries out many mediation projects and participates in pan-European projects throughout the year. Latitudes Contemporaines is also a performing arts production office, Latitudes Prod., which accompanies 8 international male/female artists in the development and dissemination of their artistic projects over the course of several years.

Latitudes Extended

Its 16 years’ experience at the service of artistic creation allow Latitudes Contemporaines to now propose events throughout the year, outside the festival period. While maintaining the artistic excellence that it holds dear, Latitudes Extended is a response to its partners’ requests. Latitudes Contemporaines has thus built up a programme, outside the festival period, at the scale of the Lille metropolitan area and the Hauts-de-France region, as well as actions of mediation, awareness-raising and artistic practice intended for the public and professionals alike.

The reflection of professional commitment to publics and of a demand for transmission between artists and the territory, it is a strong tool for local anchorage and bonding that brings together and confronts artistic projects of international origin and local publics – Parisart

Alongside the festival and all year long, the Latitudes Contemporaines team accompanies and develops the projects of a number of artists. Based on an international network and the skills pooling of a dedicated team, the production office is a resource centre for expertise, guidance and support for artists and their work.

Latitudes Prod. takes charge of the administration, production management, production, dissemination, communication and cultural engineering of artistic projects. Latitudes Prod. also accompanies teams and artists in implementing development strategies for their projects.
