Jean-Claude Gallotta - Centre chorégraphique national de Grenoble
Gathering dancers, actors, composers and scenographer, Jean-Claude Gallotta has created his own mythologies and developed an universe where dance has a dominant part.
Jean-Claude Gallotta encountered dance somewhat by chance. Over time, bringing together dancers, actors, composer and scenographer, he has created his own mythologies and developed a universe in which dance takes pride of place. Abstract, it remains a game close to childhood that permits every invention.
On the occasion of the revival of Docteur Labus, that “love doctor” imagined in 1988, the choreographer returns to the genesis of the work and the invention of its title: the show consists of four duos who describe the state of the amorous bodies, their “music” and their adventurous life. Gallotta lays out his conception of dance and situates its issues around the secrets and fears of the body. Once this field has been opened to the infinite combinations (the intimate, emotions, passion, solitude and the collective), he has to find followers and arrange his approach so that each of his works acts like a dream catalyst. This is what he tries to do here by working with new interpreters.
