Japanese Delight
In its Japanese version, hip-hop is revealed in its most frontal form, raw, without dramaturgy, public face: today, the best dancers of the genre come from the land of the rising sun. New gestures, incredible virtuosity and references drawn from the 1980s, but also from the musicals of the 1930s and 1940s: Japanese hip-hop stands out as a true encyclopedia of movement, led by a breathtaking sense of unison . Filmed in 2012 at the Lyon Dance Biennale, three groups succeeded each other, before competing for a final free style challenge: Mortal Combat (from breakdance from the manga universe), Repoll: FX (in an 80s style inspired by funk-soul music and the swag of Cab Calloway), Former Aktion (performers practicing popping, dancing standing, on the model of electric boogaloo).
