Flat/grand délit
An artistic research through the virtuoso exploration of movements and the relationship that can exist between a man and a bicycle.
Since Vincent Warin began BMX (‘Bicycle Motocross’) and became French champion and second in the world, he has been carrying out artistic research through the virtuoso exploration of movements and the relationship that can exist between a man and a bicycle. In Flat / grand délit, the choreographer Yann Lheureux makes him embody the sensitive figure of someone who flaunts and distorts rules and normal use by performing ‘flat’, one of the specific disciplines of BMX that pushes the technique to its extreme, in order to produce figures with pure balance, without touching the ground with one’s feet…
Vincent Warin (second in the world, French champion, and more) has tasked himself with amazing us. Both instrument and partner, his BMX reinforces the technical aspect of the solo while producing a greatly poetic effect. The being and the object are indivisible. This union between the two practices and two cultures of BMX and dance offers the audience a sensitive, unique score.
“The sporting discipline of BMX comprises several major disciplines, including flat, a diminutive of flatland. It is on this binding space that rage, dance, doubt, solitude, exploits, sharing and more are practised; looking ourselves like looking in a mirror of our futures.”
