« Upon their invitation, I went to meet the actors of the Compagnie de l’Oiseau-Mouche. Their tenacity, their wilingness to work and to try out every suggestion revealed a desire. I deeply share this belief in placing work at the centre of the artistic process. When I throw out an idea, it finds a strange, sometimes troubling resonance – perhaps even more so than with people I regularly work with. Everyone has an inner world that they carry around with them that is just under the skin, so close to the surface, which is rare. Generally, this world remains in the dressing room. With these people, you can feel that it is always on the verge of spilling over. »
