CORPOS
A meeting between Brazilian and Caribbean artists, Corpos interrogates Black masculinity in order to liberate human creativity.
CORPOS is a creative laboratory led by Hubert Petit-Phar and Augusto Soledade, a choreographer from Bahia, joined by three Bahian dancers and one Guadeloupean dancer.
At its core lies the encounter between two artists engaged in a shared reflection on the stigmatization of the Black body—the body as a political tool.
In a world where aesthetic, political, and symbolic borders increasingly overlap in a porous ebb and flow, how do we perceive humanity today?
This desire to engage with Brazilian artists on the issue of bodily and sexual representation stems from a central question: how do we look at the other, and is that gaze shaped by our sensory, cultural, or material environment? At the intersection of our cultures and our multiple identities, what space do we allow for the singularity of our bodies?
