C'est merveilleux
“C’est merveilleux” (2000) is a medium-length fiction film by Arnold Pasquier. It was shot in Marseille, Roubaix and Tourcoing
“Six sequences, six characters, in turn narrators and listeners. Where we explore the whole range of inner confession, amorous and shameless”.
Remark by Arnold Pasquier in 2019 :
“”C’est merveilleux” is the screen adaptation of a piece of the same name created and presented in the second year at Le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains. I have kept 6 monologues of the original text that were played by the same interpreters. The piece brought together 5 female architects and 5 male gardeners working in Marseille and Roubaix, and who conversed without ever meeting. The film replays a circulation of speech through a sequence of narrators who speak before a silent listener, who will then become the speaker in the next part, each part looping onto the next. The dance, present in the show (4 interpreters were dancers) is echoed in the film with Vincent Druguet’s solo. »
