Winner of the 2002 SACD Prize for Best Choreography in Belgium, Brutalis is an iconic show in Karine Ponties’s anthology, born from the collaboration with Belgian visual artist Thierry Van Hasselt.

At the beginning, it’s about drawing meeting dance, and ink meeting the body. From there follow timeless bodily states, sharing the stage with other presences, among them music and echoes, light and darkness. From this universe emerges a woman and her  multiple inner selves: insect-like, grotesque, divine, combative, broken, fragile. Brutalis immerses us in an inner world both intimate and organic, where a single, lonely body is able to conjure the accelerated evolution of the human race, where the body is a landscape made of dust, bones and skin. BRUT/RAW.
