Film directors provide an exquisite demonstration of what video can unveil of the choreographic process when this process is not focused on the space of the stage. By framing parts of the dancers’ bodies very tightly, the camera seems to probe the quasi-hypnotic immensity that exists in observing the simple movement of the articulation of a knee entrenched in a pair of jeans or a neck playing with the amplitude of its movements. An exploration that weaves comings and goings with the effort of an elephant.
