Choreographic film
Among the events for the 20th anniversary celebrations of Dame de Pic, Karine Ponties collaborated with two young artists and film directors, whom she let take possession of her choreographic material to create their own dance short-films.
The first of these two films, « 4PKP » by Yoann Stehr and Stephan Dubrana, is a portrait of the company’s work over an arch of 20 years. Asking himself how to film dance, without doing “vulgar video recordings, the worst way to bring the stage’s atmosphere to the screen,” Yoann decides to pick, over the entire company’s repertoire, five pieces, five performers, five choreographic scores. He places them in different habitats and creates 5 scenes that compose the portrait not of one or several people, but of a choreographic work, of a research around movement.
