Yalda Younes was born in Beirut in 1978. After pursuing film studies, a twist of fate made her turn to dance. In 2006, she created “Non” by Zad Moultaka as a tribute to Samir Kassir. A violent indictment of war, this work was presented in Beirut and then in Europe.

A video extract of the work was incorporated in Israel Galván’s show “El final de este estado de cosas, redux”. In the cinema, she appears in “Le dernier homme” (The Last Man) (2006), third full-length film by the Lebanese, Ghassan Salhab. In 2007, she presented “Demande à la poussière” (Ask the Dust) in the BIPOD Festival in Beirut.

In 2009, Yalda Younes created “Ana Fintizarak” with Yasmine Hamdan performed at the Antipodes Festival in Brest, then presented a longer version for a “Sujet à vif” during the Avignon Festival.

Today, Yalda Younes is established in Paris and pursues her training with Israel Galván, who remains her greatest source of inspiration.
