Camille Thomas-Konate
Dancer, jazz dance teacher, teacher-trainer in pedagogy and didactics, also responsible for the Centre de Formation Danse de Cergy (CFD).
After studying jazz at the CRR in Cergy-Pontoise, she went on to study dance at the Rick ODUMS professional training institute (IFPRO), graduating in 2002. During her final year of studies, she joined the Cie ANOÏ, an Afro-contemporary dance company, for several years, where she developed her knowledge of African dance, which has had a major impact on her jazz and her teaching.
Convinced that dance is an art of sharing that fosters social cohesion and openness to others, she is ideally suited to the CFD, which was set up in Cergy in 2009 to create a multi-disciplinary dance training programme. The constant exchanges with the team’s teachers and the connections between different styles, particularly hip-hop disciplines, will nourish her teaching and her aesthetic. Her interest in hip-hop culture, in which she has been immersed since she was a teenager and which has grown with time, led her to develop, alongside other teachers, a professional training course in hip-hop dance in Cergy in 2018. For the past 5 years, she has been coordinating the course alongside Philippe ‘Physs’ Almeida, among others, and has been involved as a trainer.
Always on the lookout for new skills, she began training for the Certificat d’Aptitude de professeur de jazz at the CNSMD in Lyon, graduating in October 2022. She also oversees the organisation of cultural events such as Cergy Funk Style and Jazz in the House.
