Of Franco-Spanish origin, Sylvain Souret studied music at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional d’Aix-en-Provence, notably in Clara Kastler’s class. He won 1st prize in piano and 1st prize in chamber music, both with distinction. He also obtained a baccalauréat in literature and a state diploma as a music teacher, accompanying piano and dance, and went on to study 5 foreign languages, which he now speaks fluently.

Alongside his piano studies, he took private lessons in opera singing with Lise Arseguet Romeny.

Fascinated by the lyrical and choreographic repertoire, he perfected his vocal conducting skills with Sabine Vatin (Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris) and Denis Dubois (Opéra Bastille, Paris). Noticed by Janine Reiss, he studied the operatic repertoire with her. This led to various engagements as a conductor, including at the Opéra Théâtre d’Avignon, the Chorégies d’Orange, and the CNIPAL (Centre national d’insertion professionnel des artistes lyriques) in Marseille. He has worked with many international conductors and opera artists (David Reiland, Alain Altinoglu, Cyril Diederich, Ileana Cotrubas, Michel Plasson, Gabriel Bacquier, Natalie Dessay, Angela Georghiu, among others).

He left France in 2011 to pursue an international career as a concert performer at various festivals in France and abroad: Paphos Aphrodite Festival (Cyprus), Aspendos International Opera Festival (Turkey).

As a conductor, he has worked at the national operas of Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya and Samsun (Turkey), at SemperOper Dresden, Oper Leipzig (Germany) and Pisa (Italy).

For dance, he was musical assistant to Monique Loudières for the revival of Giselle at the Opéra du Grand Avignon. He has accompanied masterclasses by Kenneth Grève and Jean-Lucien Masso, and is a regular guest at the Ballet Prejlocaj / CCN d’Aix-en-Provence.

He is pianist accompanist at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional d’Avignon, pianist vocal coach at the Opéra Théâtre du Grand Avignon and guest pianist vocal coach at the lyric festival Les Concerts au Coucher de Soleil in Oppède-le-Vieux.
