Cécilia Slongo
Cecilia Slongo is an Argentinian multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, dancer, choreographer and educator based in Los Angeles. She holds a BA in Dance from the University of California Riverside. Her practice focuses on the body as an active source of knowledge, memory and activator of change. Cecilia Slongo has performed for Viver Brasil, Souly Dance Arts and Elwah Dance & Research, among others. She is currently exploring the ways in which film and dance can intersect. Her film Persequï was shown in 2021 at a number of film festivals, including the Toronto International Women Film Festival and the Berlin International Art Film Festival.
In 2023, she was awarded a Fullbright scholarship to conduct research in Benin on multimedia practices, traditional dances and music. As part of this work, she teaches at the Centre Multicorps – Marcel Gbeffa in Cotonou, working with young students on their way to becoming professionals, and collaborates with local artists.
