Following her musical studies at the CNR in Rouen, Charlotte Rousseau turned to cinema and photography and, in 2001, obtained a BTS (Advanced Vocational Diploma) in Audiovisual Cinema with editing option. She worked for the television (the news programmes on France 3 and documentaries for Arte with MK2 TV, Films d’ici and Quark Prod). As regards cinema, she assisted Sabine Mamou on “Liberté Oléron” (directed by Bruno Podalydès) and Ariane Doublet for her film “Les Sucriers de Colleville”.
She worked with the cinema section of the Ecole Florent, where she edited the films of Lucia Sanchez, Laurence Côte, Arnaud Viard, Antoine Le Bos, Olivier Jahan, Daniel Cling …
In 2008-2009, she provided her services to the MAC/VAL (Val de Marne Department Museum of Contemporary Art) and collaborated on the ARTE’s new documentary series, Cut Up.
Concurrently to her editing and videographic work, she participated in contemporary dance classes and, through this, developed a new approach to video that was based on body-image relationships and on performance issues. She produced the documentary A&P, the photographic work S&W, the videograms, “The Watcher”, in collaboration with the filmmaker Vincent Jaglin, the video-dance “Histoire(s)” and “Chapitres/Mythologies”, concept films of fragments of grand themes. She made an extensive range of recordings of performances and worked with the Grand Magasin, Arcosm, RC2, Woody-Tat and Illico companies among others.
Since 2004, she has been collaborating regularly with Thomas Lebrun and has created videos of his work: “Que tàl ? ou comment vouloir peut être un problème”, “Itinéraire d’un danseur grassouillet”, “FEUE”, and soon “Six Order Pieces” (2011 creation).
In 2006, she founded the La Presque Compagnie and expanded her work on performances, applying harmony and interaction of the three arts as her guiding line: Music-video-dance (she created Women in Love, Cut and La Parade).
