Lionel Retornaz
Born in Villeurbanne, France. Learned the ropes at TCM film channel in London. From 2000 to 2007, in charge of channel branding then director-editor. In 2007-2008, travels extensively throughout South America / Spanish language and civilisation course at the University of Buenos Aires.
In 2010-2011, Master Degree in Creative Documentary – Barcelona Pompeu Fabra University (Workshops and Master Classes by Leena Pasanen, Sergei Dvortsevoy, Marcel Lozinski, Luciano Rigolini). 2012, production of a documentary essay : Chalk and Quill, programmed in a dozen festivals including FID Marseille.
Since 2013, teaches, directs and develops various projects: experimental short films kineticos and Alluuies, documentary La ruche (The Hive). 2015 Training the fundamentals of production in Lussas. Since 2014, member of the artistic team of the non profit Les Inattendus in Lyon (festival programming, setting up filming workshops). 2018, saw him finish the documentary essay Equateur, lointain intérieur (Ecuador, Deep Inside). 2020, completes a first feature-length documentary film: Beside Oneself and works on several film projects.
