Ilyas Odman began dancing at the METU Dance Theatre in 1998. Between 2000 and 2002, he was its choreographer and trainer. During the same period, he took classical ballet and modern dance lessons at the Ankara Public Opera and then at the Modern Dance Turkey (MDT).

Alparslan Karaduman, Bürge Öztürk, Paul Clayden, Chevy Muraday, Dilek Dervisoglu, Stephanie Parent, Martin Sonderkamp, Talin Büyükkürkçiyan, Rubato and Alexandre Abellan are just a few of the choreographers whose work he had performed. In 2001, he created “UnderNine Dance” and “Movement Project” to devise his own language, leaning on literature, the body and sound.

Through his work he has collaborated with artists from a variety of disciplines, including Bahadır Dilbaz, Karine Ponties, Ethem Özgüven, Umay Umay and Yüksel Aymaz. He has also performed in the creations of Karine Ponties (“Borée”) and Armando Menicacci and Christian Delécluse (“Under_score”).

His latest works include: “Tired” (2005), “Glassmen” (2007), “Imago” (2008), “Yorgun” (2009), “Oggi, niente” (2009).
