Born and has lived in Schüttorf, Germany. Moved to Évora in Portugal and after to Lisbon, passed through London and at the moment lives and works in Brussels. Luis from an early age has shown skills and passion for drawing and dancing, but drawing was his first strong attempt, as a child some of his works won prices and had invitations for school expositions and small events. Later through the direction of the Portuguese artist Leonor Serpa Branco, he got in to the University of Arts at Escola Superior de Artes e Design in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. But quickly he quit about the arts school because he saw an inspiring performance “Pixel” from the Portuguese choreographer Rui Horta. After that Luis took a step into dance, he received a degree at Escola Superior de Dança in Lisbon. Worked with the Belgian choreographer Karine Ponties in Brussels. In collaboration with the Belgium dancer Petra Van Gompel, he founded the dance company MARRAFA vzw and the dance studio StairCase.studio in Brussels. Luis is inspired by his surroundings, experiences and different cultures, creates his own works as a choreographer, dancer and music/sound composer.
