L'explose
Artistic Direction: Tino Fernandez
Creation: 1991
L´Explose was originally set up by Tino Fernandez in Paris, following intensive research into contemporary dance. Later the company was also established in Colombia, South America, with similar objectives to those originally defined. The company grew out of the need for an appropriate expression: in its research, it focuses on the emotional aspect rather than movement. The result is work which, through a raw and violent energy, succeeds in expressing its encounter with reality and the rejection of an intimate imagination, codified in a society of artifice.
L’Explose is also a meeting place for artists from different disciplines with the aim of implementing the choreographic projects proposed by its director.
In its creative work, L´Explose emphasizes the fusion between modern dance and theatre, the fruit of which is a very concrete and thoroughly worked out on-stage drama. Each intention is thus translated physically and the performers are able to construct a clearly-indentified emotional world. This means that each movement is the expression of a theatrical situation. The participation of Juliana Reyes, dramatist and theatre director, contributed significantly by providing the performers and works with the necessary realization so that each movement can be filled with dramatic meaning.
As part of its primary mission to promote contemporary dance, L´Explose has presented its repertoire on numerous occasions in Europe, the United States, Asia, North Africa and Latin America.
