La Mangrove
Founded in 2007, the company identifies with a fragile ecosystem—a place where one can become lost and also find liberation—a “Tout-monde” (Édouard Glissant), where roots intertwine and adapt, allowing for openings and necessary escapes. Influenced by poetry and mythology, by history and the evolution of society, Hubert Petit-Phar explores themes of resilience and identity in each of his works. His creative process is deeply informed by the relationship between humans and territories, by movement and memory.
“Aesthetic, political, symbolic borders”: the choreographer interrogates the very notion of borders—geographic and conceptual—the idea of center, polycentricity, remoteness, and porosity. At the heart of his work lies the urgent need to resist the growing tide of withdrawal, particularly identity-based isolationism, by engaging in collective action.
La Mangrove was originally founded by Delphine Cammal and Hubert Petit-Phar. Since the summer of 2023, Delphine Cammal has moved on to pursue other professional endeavors.
