Geoffroy Jourdain
Alongside musicology studies at the Sorbonne and research in the Italian musical collections of several European libraries, Geoffroy Jourdain became involved very early in the direction of vocal ensembles and founded, while he was still a student, Les Cris de Paris, quickly recognized for the audacity of their artistic project and for their investment in contemporary creation. He is also passionate about the repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries and ethnomusicology.
In the company of artists from different practices (theater, dance, visual arts, video, etc.), he is interested in the place of music on stage, and in concert conventions.
From 2002 to 2010, he co-directed the young Paris choir with Laurence Equilbey and the Paris Orchestra Choir with Didier Bouture.
He divides his activity between his company and invitations to conduct other groups: the Capella Amsterdam ensemble, the Colombian Symphony Orchestra (Bogotá), the choir of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra…
For the Paris Opera Academy, he directed Orphée et Eurydice then Iphigénie en Tauride by Gluck, as well as L’Orfeo by Monteverdi. In collaboration with the Les Siècles orchestra, Israel in Egypt by Handel; with the 2e2m ensemble, the opera Cachafaz by Oscar Strasnoy.
The training of young performers and composers is also at the heart of its concerns. He regularly works with students conducting choirs at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon. He directs the eeemerging+ Academy in Ambronay in 2021, and in the same year founded the A・V・E・C (Voice And Composition Workshops) system dedicated to young creation.
