Femke Gyselinck
Femke Gyselinck is a dancer and choreographer. After graduating from P.A.R.T.S. in 2006, she worked as a freelance dancer with Eleanor Bauer, Andros Zins-Browne and Esther Venrooy, among others. Artistic assistant to Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker/Rosas for nine years, she is a member of the faculty of P.A.R.T.S. For her own creations, Femke Gyselinck seeks a dance language that is closely attuned to the music, combining bold performativity with a delicate form of expressivity. In 2018, she created Flamer, a duet with her brother Lander, drummer with STUFF and LABtrio, among others, as well as Lachrimae or Seven Teares, with Romina Lischka & the Hathor Consort, to music by John Dowland & Annelies Van Parys. In 2022, she will present a choreographic elaboration of Gymnastics of the Mind, a study inspired by the book ABECEDA, with Letters 2 Dance.
Femke Gyselinck likes to respond to requests for collaboration from theatre-makers, dance companies and musicians. She has provided choreographic advice for Louis Janssens & Willem De Wolf’s Analoog (De Hoe) and choreographed various pieces for the musicals Court of Choice part I: PLAY (2019) and Court of Choice part II: ENTRE-CÔTES (2021), as well as a project week with the dancers of the Weld Company, Stockholm (2022) based on Harry Martinson’s epic science-fiction poem Aniara. Femke Gyselinck is one of four artistic directors of the dance organisation GRIP, along with choreographers Jan Martens, Cherish Menzo and Steven Michel.
