Under various incarnations and pseudonyms (as Micke Strauss for example), Arthur B. Gillette, born in 1976, is a singer, musician, producer, writer and composer for film, theatre and radio, as well as a translator. He is the guitarist/keyboardist with Moriarty, the band he founded in 1995 and whose songs he co-wrote, and the producer and bassist with Astéréotypie, a unique rock’n’roll experiment created in a medical-educational institute in Bourg-la-Reine. He has also collaborated with Christine Salem and Malian N’Goni master Moriba Koïta. He has composed extensively for documentary and feature films, and his soundtracks have won several awards. He has also written and produced several creative radio documentaries and dramas for France Culture, including Le Tourbillon de Naruto, which won the SACD Beaumarchais grant and went on the air in 2018. He is also a fellow traveller with Jonathan Capdevielle, with whom he collaborated on the music for his latest plays, À nous deux maintenant, Les Bonimenteurs, and Remi.
Finally, born in France to American-born parents, he recently began translating American poetry, including previously unpublished texts by Roy Lichtenstein, which were published in France in spring 2019.
He now lives in Brittany, near Douarnenez.
