VINCENT EPPLAY

The plastic artist and musician, Vincent Epplay, has developed multi-faceted research that plays on the materiality of sound and the various means used for broadcasting/receiving it. By creating a practice that simultaneously draws on visual arts and electronic music, he questions sound/image relationships, broadcasting circumstances (duration, place) and the audio-spectator relationship. Working with installed sound systems and live performances, he confronts public listening in the traditional form of concerts and explores the architectural and plastic dimension of sound by creating installed sound systems. He recently presented “Cabines d’écoute” and “Ébruitement des Rochers Parlants” at the Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers (2003-2004), “Jukebox pour musique sans titre”, a live exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and “Cabine n°5”, an “audio” show at the Centre Georges Pompidou.

He regularly plays live, either as a solo artist or with other artists, in different festivals in Europe (Villette numérique, Netmage, etc.).
