Adel El shafey hails from the Beisson housing estate in Aix-en-Provence, France, and is a multi-influenced artist. He has practiced a variety of disciplines including hip-hop dance, contemporary dance and martial arts. In 2013-14, he was choreographer and performer of a video-dance filmed at the Atelier Cézanne in Aix-en-Provence, a creation commissioned by the Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence and presented in an exhibition entitled Trésors de Beisson (curated by Marcel Tavé) alongside works by Jean-Michel Othoniel and Marc Couturier.
In 2013, he also took up a role in Carmen with Compagnie Propos (Denis Plassard). At the same time, he continues his choreographic research.
In 2015, he created the company Le Scribe et Logos, a piece co-produced by Ballet Preljocaj, CCN d’Aix-en-Provence.
Since then, he has regularly taken part in workshops based on his choreographic universe, and in 2020, with his collaborator Maëlle Deral, he created Abysses, as part of the Golovine theater’s associate artist program.
In 2021, he creates Game of Dance, a performance commissioned and programmed as part of the Un Air de Danse #1 festival organized by Ballet Preljocaj. In February 2023, he will create Yalla, my friends at the CCN d’Aix-en-Provence.
