Christophe Duquenne
Entering the Paris Opera ballet dance school in 1981, Christophe Duquenne continued his studies there for 7 years under the direction of Claude Bessy. His teachers are Christiane Vlassi, Daniel Franck, Lucien Duthoit, Gilbert Mayer and Serge Golovine.
He joined the corps de ballet of the Paris Opera in 1988 at the age of 16 under the direction of Rudolf Nureyev. He was promoted to coryphée in 1989, subject in 1992 then Principal dancer in 2006. He dances and performs the major roles of the classical repertoire in the choreographies of Rudolf Nureyev: “Siegfried” in Swan Lake, “Jean de Brienne” in Raymonda, “Drosselmeyer / the Prince” in The Nutcracker, “Désiré” in Sleeping Beauty and “Romeo” in Romeo and Juliet. He also dances the neoclassical repertoire with ballets by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, John Neumeier, Maurice Béjart or Roland Petit, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato and contemporary with pieces by Dominique Bagouet, Jean-Claude Gallotta or Trisha Brown.
He won the “Ohya” prize at the Osaka competition alongside Ghislaine Fallou in 1995 and received the AROP prize in 2003.
Christophe Duquenne obtained his state diploma in 1996 and his Certificate of Aptitude in 2012. Since 2014, Christophe Duquenne has been a teacher at the Paris Opera dance school under the direction of Élisabeth Platel.
