After having studied classical dance for several years in Paris, Anne Dreyfus discovered contemporary dance through Noémie Lapsezon and Peter Goss (and also through Hélène Traïline, Marie Lamaison, Nina Vyroubova, Raymond Franchetti, Marika Besobrasova).
She performed with the Peter Goss Company for 3 creations and danced Dominique Bagouet’s first choreographies. In 1977, she left for New York to discover American Modern Dance.
She joined Jennifer Muller’s company “Jennifer Muller and the Works” at this time.
She has been working with Jean-François Pauvros, musician and composer, on the music for her creations for the last fifteen years. Since their first encounter, they have also been researching the relationship between dance and music… A duo, where improvisation is key to the dialogue and exploration between sound and gesture.
Between 1981 and 1987, she taught at the American Centre, the Sorbonne University in Paris and the Studio des Pyrénées (Paris). From 1987 to 1997, she taught at the Ménagerie de Verre, Studio Harmonic (Paris) and the MJC (Youth and Cultural Centre) in Colombes. She has also conducted numerous training programmes in France and abroad. From 1996 to 2002, she was responsible for the contemporary dance classes at the CNSMDP, the Higher National Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris. She continues to pursue her work running courses in Paris, throughout France and abroad.
Since 2003, her choreographic work has led her to other areas: links with visual arts, installation proposals, performances, working hand-in-hand with other artists who privilege artistic experimentation, etc.
To create a base for this new research, she recently completed work, with Bernard Bousquet, on new premises located on the edge of Paris, the “Générateur”, a vast space open to unique, unusual proposals that occasionally have difficulties fitting into typical live performance venues… The “Générateur” was inaugurated in October 2006.
