Diller + Scofidio
Diller + Scofidio is an interdisciplinary and experimental American architecture agency, founded in 1979 by Elisabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio, and based in Mahattan. Diller and Scofidio are above all architects whose vision goes beyond the limits of their profession. Their career includes installations and performances using all forms of arts, and collaborations with a range of artists ranging from the visual arts to the performing arts.
An employee since 1997, Charles Renfro became partner of the agency in 2004, occasionally renaming himself Diller Scofidio + Renfro.
They also renovate and expand public spaces, such as the Lincoln Center and the High Line, both located in New York.
Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio were the first architects to win the MacArthur Prize (sometimes called “Genius grant”). They now lead a team of 40 people, with diverse areas of expertise. They advocate collaborative work.
