Laura de Nercy studied contemporary dance with Susan Buirge, Carolyn Carlson, Alwin Nikolais, Hideyuki Yano and Jacques Patarozzi. She performed for a myriad of choreographers (Suzan Buirge, François Verret, Obadia/Bouvier, etc.). At the same time, she experimented with Butoh, African dance, Aikido, Noh and Kabuki. These various experiences led her to focus in her approach on the question of body weight, support points and density. She explored vertical support with Bruno Dizien and went on to establish the Roc in Lichen Company with him. This resulted in the creation of their “vertical dance”, since explored by a great many dancers and choreographers. She was a member of the Kitsou Dubois research group focusing on the weightless body and studied Qigong. In 2010, she began exploring the scope of the body and the voice with Annie Paris, a singer and psychophonist. Hand-in-hand they created T.O.S (Trafic d’organes sonores – sound organ trafficking), a generic name grouping together workshops, research laboratories and creations. She has also supported and has been involved in various circus, theatre, music and dance projects. She teaches dancers, actors, circus performers, singers and choir directors in various establishments and associations.
